Abstract hoopla in green

For this abstract hoopla I wanted to create an organic feel, reminiscent of a coral reef or mossy bank. I played with lots of different types of stitches (French knot, bullion knot, satin stitch, etc) and used all the shades of green in my collection. I added beads for more dimension and bling and a little sparkly wool roving for a different texture. I’m not sure why I chose dark fabric but I like the final effect! I painted the hoop and backed with felt and called it done.

This is so stunningly gorgeous. It lives with me and these photos, while great, do not capture the luscious texture it has in real life. I’m absolutely obsessed. The dark background perfectly sets off the details! :green_heart:

Mesmerizing piece! So much texture and I just love the monochromatic color scheme on the dar background. Such a beautiful job finishing it as well.

Wowee! This definitely has a mossy, licheny vibe! Or maybe even a tide pool.

You achieved your goal. It looks like the bottom of a mossy pond, in the best way possible!

You nailed it with the organic feel. It’s like pics I’ve seen of tide pools and a little of what I’ve seen at the edges of ponds (with much better color). I’m getting this I-want-to-touch-but-no-because-it’s-art feeling. Yearning? I think that is the emotion.

Where are you going to put it?
