This is breathtaking!
So glad you like it! I was trying for an organic feel like a coral reef. Learned a lot while making it!
I’ve been really busy so I didn’t really get to take the time to show y’all some of the awesome stitches on this pice from @MightyMitochondria
here are some highlights…
Super unique and so fun! Each one a little masterpiece.
Thank you again MM!
Yes! I love the organic feel. The mossy parts are my fave but I love that beaded part that’s very coral-y. It was hard to capture in the photos!
I received an awesome hoop from @goatgoddesss!
Love the curlicues and the stars. Thanks!
Ooooo! Very cool. Are those circles felted? And the stars look like pottery! ![]()
I made the stars a while back out of polyclay. and yes the circles are wool felting.
the pink strips are silk worm cocoons that I got a long while back.
so glad you like it ![]()
I received a creative piece from @Dfabbric yesterday. She used thread scraps and machine embroidery on a translucent background to create the piece. Here’s a photo of the front:
And a photo half in the light of the window so you can see through it.
I may try to hang it on the curtain rod in my craft room like a sun catcher!
Holy WHAT?! That’s incredible! ![]()
Such cool techniques used!
-I love the felted bits on the piece from @goatgoddesss
-the sampler of stitch types in @MightyMitochondria’s piece
-the mix of fabric and thread in @Kwality570’s
-the smooth satin stitches on @curiousfae’s
-the combo of paint, beads, and threads in @Abbeeroad’s
and now the scrap thread stitching on @Dfabbric’s!
Once again impressed with the creativity of this group!
scrap thread is cool - like how you did that @Dfabbric how fun.
here is mine from @geekgirl - so much texture and color
I really like the sunburst stitching tech. very cool the way you did that. an dso much to look at - cool
Nice work @geekgirl- I also really like the sunbursts!
Obsessed! ![]()
So cool! Your ability to use color and texture are amazing. Awesome work @geekgirl
What skills everyone has. I love them all:)
Life got a little in the way so I haven’t had time to comment. Catching up on this amazing gallery now! I’m so impressed with everyone’s hoops. The creativity is stunning. So many fun takes on abstract embroidery.
@Abbeeroad I LOVE the mix of fabric and stitching and paint. You are a true master of abstract and scrappy. The composition is so nice too! I would love to run my hands over it and feel the texture.
@MightyMitochondria The little rainbow abstract stitch sampler is absolutely the best! The dotty background with the squares is exquisite and it looks sooooooo good in that vintage frame! The red square that looks like brains is my favorite. ![]()
@curiousfae Your take on abstract is amazing! I think it looks like a fun microscope slide. The black and white paired with the pops of color are CHEF’S KISS! Gorgeous!!!
@jeanneleigh Green is my favorite color and you’ve used all of the greens so beautifully. Yours reminds me of an intricate petri dish full of growing specimens.
I can’t even decide what part is my favorite because it’s all so interesting and fun!
@goatgoddesss Debra! The way you combined the fibers with the stitching and buttons is soooo pretty.
@geekgirl Your piece makes my heart sing! Those colors are so great together and the fun stitches that look like they’re “sprouting” out of the circles add so much interest. Also, I’d love to dig through your button stash.
Thanks to everyone for making this an amazing swap!
If you haven’t made a site post about what you made, please do! We love it when everyone can see what is happening in the Swaps!
