The way you overcame that was clever! I wish now that I had scanned some of the backgrounds and labels I made so I could use them in other ways in the future! I still lament over some of the things I used and wish I had more! lol…oh well, I learned something from you!
Catching up been so busy UGH
Gesso - yes Italian means chalk or plaster depending on use. English pronunciation is Jesso but Italian is more like Jayso. Personally I was introduced to the word in Italy so have a tendency to say Jayso but try to correct myself.
This page was fun but I’d probably add a few more touches on some of the layers next time. Snapped this picture quickly between cat paws trying to “help”.
Adding the white really does brighten it up…love your flowers!
Here is the link to using magical powders…she also has one specifically for gelli plates I think…
Gorgeous - I love the fresh green!
Here’s mine:
I used: markers, pens, water soluble pencil, regular pencil, acrylic craft paint, a scrap paper from catching ink and wax in a different project, cloud stickers @Reinikka sent me (using the good stuff! And I wasn’t about to paint over them), interference medium, homemade stencil, flicks of white ink (which turned pink), and a couple smudges of gesso on top, on gessoed dictionary pages. I accidentally sprayed it with a mist of orange gouache after I started doing a different project, and I don’t hate it (I hardly see it in the photo).
How lovely to see you all today.
I really love your colour choices @photojenn and it’s amazing how we all interpret the directions so differently. @calluna yours had got an almost futuristic vibe. And go you, using the good stuff!
This is mine from today, I got sidetracked outlining all the circles in the stencil I used.
I have no idea why, but yours give me a feeling of champagne bubbles…a party on a page!
@photojenn I love the fresh colours on your page in contrast with the black around the circles
@calluna your page makes me think of a futuristic steampunk, is that even a thing?
@Edel your page makes me think of planets in an alternate universe where instead of everything ‘out there’ is black…it’s white!
I need to start stalking watching this thread! You guys are up to some serious fun over here
Join in!
Even if you don’t join the zooms you could always do the video on your own and show us what you came up with. We’d love to see everyone’s pages!
Echoing this! Seeing the variety of outcomes and interpretations from a single video is probably my favorite part.
Awesome pages you guys! I’m sad I missed it but going to try to do the page this week/weekend!
@calluna I love these rich colours and all the swirls and movement! yay for using the good stuff
@Edel the layering and happy vibes in this just bounce off the page! fabulous!
I love doing these sessions with you all, thank you so much for hosting @geekgirl!
Yay for the magic of chopping things up and putting a border around them …
I wish you could see the shimmer/unicorn spew effect - so pretty!
Ooh nice. And you’re so right, borders on everything!
So fun!!
I have those powders so I do know what they look like in person! Just a hint of glam!
Amazing how different they look…and the stencil of circles @calluna made really are the highlight!
Thanks! I googled black-and-white optical illusions and looked for the easiest one I could draw and carve. And since the stencil is a lot simpler than the actual illusion I drew in the missing parts.
