I love this a lot!
So far this sunday looks like it’s winning by a touch. I am thinking this video. It’s messy and grungy looking. Looks like fun!
The napkin she uses at 8:20, you could probably create something similar on tissue paper or use a different design of napkin. And use whatever you have for the focal point.

Looks fun! I’ll have to play on my own
So I’ve gotten carried away playing around with the Recycler’s Journal class. I don’t have any finished pages yet but have been having a lot of fun slapping paint around and making backgrounds (spreads and single pages). Commence photo dump:
Ahhh, such fun! And I spy a samurai penguin in the yellow-green page.
I love how things can appear in abstract lines, shapes and colors.
I just really enjoy that tracing out process. I may end up painting over some/all of it, but I’m trying to embrace the idea of process over product.
I’m going to sit in on Sunday’s zoom to see how it works. Should I watch the video first?
From my one-time joining and past conversations I think yes, it’s best to watch it at least once to get an idea of what you’ll be doing, what supplies you’ll need, etc. This one looks like you can gesso your page(s) to be ready (?) and have a hair drier or heat tool on hand! I won’t be able to join the zoom but I have started on my spread so I’m hoping to have something to share later on Sunday
These are looking great! I’m still on the first lesson of prepping my pages
I’ve watched all the lessons but I’m forcing myself to do each one at a time and really focus on the process. Once I’ve done everything I’m sure I’ll go back through to add more though
I was hoping to make it but am going to need to skip this week. Looking forward to seeing everyone’s pages!
Hey @Bel! Art journalling this Sunday (Monday morning NZ time)
That class was a lot of fun!
It’s a good idea to at least skim through it.
You never have to have all the stuff they have in the videos and we can all give advice on what to substitute with. You can also branch off and do your own interpretation.
Generally things that are often used are paints, stencils and/stamps (both can be homemade or made from random household items). Some sort of pen that will write on paint.
And collage elements. A lot of which can also be homemade or random bits from the recycle bin.
omg…we have to get together to craft! You had me at tissue box…yes, I often pick by pattern! lol
I really enjoyed seeing what you guys have been up to these past few weeks…
I am going to hang at the beach for a couple of hours this morning and then Jim and I are having lunch on the boardwalk…I was hoping to get back in time for the Zoom at 2…it might be a last minute thing, so please send me the link @geekgirl!
I can’t join the Zoom today- school starts back tomorrow and I have left so many things not done. Today is a bit of a scramble.
But, I am heading up to reorganize my office so I can keep my work space, and any work-related stuff, out of the rest of the house. Then, I’m going to go in and make more space in my craft room so I can keep as much of the craft-related work in the actual craft room.
I have to start working through my craft stash!
I sent it to you!
I’m still finishing cooking lunch, and am low-energy right now, so I’m going to bow out for this one. Sorry about that! And the cat wants to cuddle, which I can’t resist.
Here’s my page! Today was definitely a practice in letting go! Every time I made peace with my pages she added another layer! I am happy with how it came out though I’m iffy on the blue and pink dots I added at the very end.
Thanks for a fun zoom ladies!
Materials:
Dina Wakley acrylics
Liquitex acrylic inks
Distress crayon (black)
Stamped coffee filter
So much water!
That looks great. I love the orange and all the circles.
I am not done with mine. It’s one of those pieces I felt I needed to step away and see what else it needs later. I’ll post an updated pic when I do that. But here’s where it’s at now.
I think it’s too busy so I’ll probably add more white!!! At some point.
Supplies
Liquitex basic acrylic paints
Sharpie pen on tissue paper
Gesso
Stabilo all pencil
Collage bits
Collage pauge
Black ink
I really like it now! Especially that half-circle off to the left. I love that you drew your dots on tissue paper and I added the pink in mine inspired by your pink addition. I think it was the right color to balance the darker spots. There are so many interesting spaces to look at (like that bottom left hand corner!).
