Hi there crafty peeps, it’s time to share some doggy PJs that I made my doggy son Atlas over the last couple of years!
So for those that haven’t ‘met’ him before, this is Atlas, he’s just over 3 years old (we got him from the Bath Dog Shelter as a teeny tiny puppy), and he’s mostly greyhound (plus some saluki like his big sister, and a little deerhound), and despite having a little extra floof from his deerhound DNA he’s still a skinny greyhound with very little fat, plus he’s a sensitive cry-baby, so he insists on having ALL the blankets and jumpers when it’s even slightly cold! ![]()
I actually got this doggy bones jersey fabric to make something for me, but I was happy to give it up to make him some nice PJs, even if he does look a little bit like he’s wearing a prison jumpsuit when he wears them ![]()
I used a Greyhound specific PJs pattern by FancyPetPatts on Etsy, but I did have to make a few adjustments to suit Atlas. He didn’t like the long back legs, so I ended up shortening them a bit more, and I also added some light elastic around his middle on this set to make sure there was no risk of him peeing into it on late night toilet trips!!
And here are the latest PJs I’ve made for Atlas, with this lovely fleece back sweatshirt fabric. As with the doggy bones PJs, I shortened the back legs a bit, but this time instead of adding elastic around the ‘waist’, I added a velcro closure to make it a little snugger around his tum for the same reason!
I’m not sure which pair of PJs he prefers the most, but I feel like these ones are his faves as they’re sooo snuggly and warm with the fleece inside being super soft. He certainly sleeps much more soundly when he’s wearing them, and in his own bed, so that’s a relief as he’s an absolute bed hog!!! ![]()
Now that he’s had them for a while I think the only thing I’d change, is I’d go back to the elastic waistband on his next pair, as his fur has ‘gummed up’ the velcro and it doesn’t hold as well now!
I hope you like the doggy pics overload
