Atlas' Prison Jumpsuits (aka PJs)

Hi there crafty peeps, it’s time to share some doggy PJs that I made my doggy son Atlas over the last couple of years!

So for those that haven’t ‘met’ him before, this is Atlas, he’s just over 3 years old (we got him from the Bath Dog Shelter as a teeny tiny puppy), and he’s mostly greyhound (plus some saluki like his big sister, and a little deerhound), and despite having a little extra floof from his deerhound DNA he’s still a skinny greyhound with very little fat, plus he’s a sensitive cry-baby, so he insists on having ALL the blankets and jumpers when it’s even slightly cold! :snowflake:

I actually got this doggy bones jersey fabric to make something for me, but I was happy to give it up to make him some nice PJs, even if he does look a little bit like he’s wearing a prison jumpsuit when he wears them

I used a Greyhound specific PJs pattern by FancyPetPatts on Etsy, but I did have to make a few adjustments to suit Atlas. He didn’t like the long back legs, so I ended up shortening them a bit more, and I also added some light elastic around his middle on this set to make sure there was no risk of him peeing into it on late night toilet trips!!

And here are the latest PJs I’ve made for Atlas, with this lovely fleece back sweatshirt fabric. As with the doggy bones PJs, I shortened the back legs a bit, but this time instead of adding elastic around the ‘waist’, I added a velcro closure to make it a little snugger around his tum for the same reason!

I’m not sure which pair of PJs he prefers the most, but I feel like these ones are his faves as they’re sooo snuggly and warm with the fleece inside being super soft. He certainly sleeps much more soundly when he’s wearing them, and in his own bed, so that’s a relief as he’s an absolute bed hog!!!

Now that he’s had them for a while I think the only thing I’d change, is I’d go back to the elastic waistband on his next pair, as his fur has ‘gummed up’ the velcro and it doesn’t hold as well now!

I hope you like the doggy pics overload  :dog:

I bet he does love them; I wouldn’t mind some human pajamas in that second fabric myself .

Also, please boop that nose for me, my goodness.

I shall indeedy! He’s laying on the sofa behind my desk at the moment snoozing with his snoot buried in a blanket, but I’ll boop it as soon as he’s awake!!

Oh, sweet baby! He looks so cute and cozy in his jammies! It’s so fun to have a pup who likes to wear outfits and Atlas seems like a born model. His greyhoundy shape combined with his PJs reminded me of this meme which is one of my all time faves.

Such a handsome boy! And his sister is a cutie too. The PJs look fantastic.

Oh my goodness! He is so precious in his jammies! They look so cozy.

I may have to look at that pattern (my skinny standard poodle loves clothes, especially when it’s 12F and we have a foot of snow on the ground).

@TheMistressT Ha ha ha, I can’t lie, I secretly want him to love prancing around in lil greyhound jumpsuits like that. In fact a dinosaur one would be absolute perfection… one day

@Bunny1kenobi  I’d say I need to set an alarm so I can remember to post weekly, but I suspect I’d run out quite quickly then, so maybe fortnightly

@Tapestry Aww thank you. Arwen does have a jumper and a hoodie too for when it’s really cold, but I haven’t made her anything myself as yet.

@tendstowardschaos Oh good idea, they have them for other breeds too as I recall, tho it might just be sighthounds, but hey if the measurements work then there’s no issue!
