After a year or so hiatus (to become a massage therapist!) from any kind of art or crafts, I’m back and obsessed as ever.
I decided as my first swap that the postcard swap was a good one to jump into. There wasn’t any theme which made it easy to just play around and see what I could do.
I’ve always been a doodler. I find them meditative and satisfying. And I don’t mind admitting that I am a huge copycat when it comes to art. As a visual and tactical learner it helps me to watch, copy, and do. YouTube ‘shorts’ are my go-to tutorials. Once I do it, I can usually recreate it with my own twist.
The two main tutorials in rotation currently are RokiaLove and DoodlewithRachel. I also found and copied the tutorial for the sea creature from Korp Academy and the mountain range from a book about watercolor by Lacy Walker.
I used alcohol markers, acrylic markers, gel pens and sprayed them with workable fixative since sending them unprotected through the postal system would most likely ruin them.
Congrats on finishing school and welcome back! These post cards are really great - they are so varied, but really a cohesive group. My fave might be the doodly stones-looking one, but it might also be the mountains.

The octopus is my favorite! All of them are unique and fun.
Welcome back! We definitely missed you. Congrats on becoming a massage therapist! Each of your postcards is a tiny work of art and perfect in its own way. Naturally I’m biased and love the octopus best (he’s so cool!). But that sunflower is a close second and each postcard so unique and fun!
