Banana, Chia & Salted Date Pots

We meal prepped a handful of goodies yesterday. We have a busy week ahead and this always prevents us from grabbing something less desirable while out and about. We also love to play music, sing, and dance together in the kitchen while cooking. All & all, the whole process is just really good for the soul. :smiling_face_with_three_hearts:

Sadly, I cannot tag this post with “recipe” as I did not measure a darned thing. But I shall list out the ingredients and maybe the flavor profile will inspire someone. I’ll try to measure next time (no promises, honestly… :face_with_peeking_eye:).

Ingredients:

  • Greek yogurt, plain
  • Milk, any, but we used cow milk
  • Rolled oats
  • Fresh bananas
  • Chia seeds
  • Dates, pitted
  • Cinnamon
  • Peanut butter or any nut butter of choice
  • Honey

Reserve a bit of peanut butter, honey, cinnamon, and fresh banana slices for topping. Throw everything else in the blender. Portion into take and go containers. Fridge for a few hours/overnight.

Garnish and enjoy. :heart_suit:

Some of our jars are two servings, some are singular. Just depends what our tummies need at the time. :bowl_with_spoon:

Those look amazing and I’m envious of your meal prep dance party!

This sounds like a tasty snack. I can definitely use some healthier snacks in my life and I love the idea of prepping it in advance because by the time I’m reaching for a snack, I don’t want to spend time making something.
We have some ‘organic’ chia seeds, which in this case basically means they did a terrible job of separating the seeds from the surrounding bits, so there’s a bunch of unpleasant stick-like bits in with the seeds. I was going to just toss them because I’m tired of little stick bits in my oatmeal, but if the chia is going in the blender, then that shouldn’t really be a problem anymore. Thanks for sharing!

Yum! Does it get a little thicker throughout the week as it sits in the fridge?

Hmm, I’ve never noticed if they get progressively thicker throughout the week. They are really thick right after the first night for sure, though!

Oh, yes. Blending pulverizes all the little stick bits. :bowl_with_spoon:

Thank you! :heart_suit:

Have you read any historical recipes? “Take some of this n a bit of that. Add other thing.” No measurements. Thus 5 people cook the same recipe in cooking guild and get 5 different results.

All this to say “is still a recipe”.
