My latest watercolor painting.
I used student quality paint on cellulose paper.
I also used that blue masking liquid again. This time I did NOT accidentally use a heat tool (and soak the liquid latex into the paper…), but I DID tear the paper in several places when I carefully removed the masking latex. I should have used cotton paper… (but that’s expensive).
Anyhow, I hope you like my new painting.
This is so bright and cheerful! I love the gradient colours of the background as well as the subtle shading you used to delineate the petals.
You captured the lovely petals of the iconic daisy!
Love the contrast and colors. The painting is gorgeous!
This is so beautiful. I would hand that on my wall.
These make me happy, just like actual daisy flowers do! The white and yellow really jump forward from the greens.
A couple of process questions for you, out of curiosity. Do you work from a photograph? Did you use salt or something to give more variation to the background?
This is so cheerful and pretty. It would make a lovely note card.
Beautiful!! Your paintings are lovely!
Thank you very much, @wittychild, @AIMR, @Tapestry, @J-squared, @endymion, @AntBee and @Bunny1kenobi !
@endymion, yes, I work from a photograph. I have it in front of me on a tablet when I paint.
And I also printed a black and white version in the desired size (with increased contrast) and traced the flower petals from it onto the watercolor paper (on a light box) with pencil.
The background in the photo was just plain grass, so I played around with different layers of paint, in yellow ochre, a beige color, two kinds of green, but also two kinds of blue and even some red.
And I indeed used a little bit of sea salt, which in this case unintentionally left totally white spots and I just kept them, because I liked the effect.
Simply beautiful.
Thank you, @gozer !
Congratulations! Your Daisies are a Featured Project this week!

Thank you, @MistressJennie !
This is beautiful! I love how 3D it looks, and the depth of the background texture.
