I joined the Quiltalong this year. I have done some smaller project earlier in my life, baby blankets and such. My mum is a quilter, but I never caught on. But she was doing another BOM (Block of the Month) quiltalong on facebook and I wanted too!
So each month I have done one block, in the colors I chose; grey, green and black. And my mum got interested and have done them too.
I had decided early on that this will be a blanket for my best friend Emil. He is a truly one-of-a-kind, and has been there in thick and thin.
And now my blanket is ready, and I have wrapped it up too!
It came out great! It’s true the blocks are all slightly different colours but I actually like that there are many shades of green in it, and that the two corner blocks stand out. The colours remind me of the forest, leaves, grass, moss, all different shades of green, grey rocks.
I also love your friend’s name! Emil i Lönneberga was my childhood hero.
Thank you! I tried to stick to just a couple of colors, but use many shades.
Haha, he have a sister called Ida, and Im not sure if they are named after Emil i Lönneberga, but I can assure you he is like that little boy the story! Still today, being +30
YEEEEEEE-HAW! Your rootin’ tootin’ craft is one of this week’s Featured Projects! Congratulations!

It was fun seeing yours and your mom’s blocks each month…but now, seeing them all put together…wow…turned out beautiful! The colors are so soothing and interesting. You will have to let us know his reaction…but I am sure it is going to be loved and become a favorite blanket!
I was looking at your first post in the Quiltalong, which was less than a year ago. You were talking about giving quilting a try and boy did you rise to the challenge, right down to creating a paper pieced block!!
I like how you alternated the sashing and used the two largest blocks to balance the corners. This is such a nice and thoughtful gift!
