Last year, during the local yarn crawl, I won the daily door prize at one of my LYSs - a garment-quantity of yarn. It’s Berroco Splash in the colorway Big Sur - a cotton/viscose chainette yarn that I probably would not have bought for myself. It’s a lovely yarn to work with, but I had no experience knitting with plant fibers. And, it’s very close to the colorway of my sofa. I also was gifted a pattern book for the yarn, but ultimately chose a different project. The pattern I used is the very popular Cumulus Blouse by PetiteKnit.
I was just looking for a basic raglan tee in a lightweight yarn, and this shirt came out perfect. I love the fit and can’t wait to wear it!
How great is that! And you get extra points for not keeping unexpected yarn in stash for 10 years looking for the right pattern for it. Kudos on all counts!
Thanks! I am slowly working through my stash, one project at a time. It seems to go faster when I tackle the sweater quantities, lol. (I’m already swatching for the next one!)
Tops aren’t so bad when the yarn is thicker. This was DK weight, and about 800 yards. It’s mostly mindless knitting, and if you put a movie on, it flies by. The trickiest part is just picking up the neckline stitches evenly (which I did not, but two stitches difference wasn’t going to show, so I let it slide).
