Last year, I bought this pre-printed fabric panel from Spoonflower. It’s printed on minky and I had heard so many times that minky was difficult to sew with that I kept putting this off.
Besides being covered in minky fuzz, it wasn’t too bad, but I also pinned the heck out of it! Bigfoot is about 12” tall, so it ended up being a quick project. It took about an hour and a half from start to finish.
I realized that he’s technically Bigfoot, but the name wasn’t as catchy However, I decided that I couldn’t abide the inaccuracy, so I changed his name (in case you saw this post under the original title/name).
Here’s the link to the fabric:
In searching for it, I found several others. I might have to start a Yeti/Bigfoot Collection!
Thanks! I thought they would be bigger, but they really are just the right size- they don’t take up a ton of room on the bed or chair. And, I could even put them on a shelf and they wouldn’t look oversized.
Thank you so much! I actually thought of you and your many Bigfoot projects when I was looking through the printed panels on Spoonflower. When this panel popped up, I wondered if you had made one in the past that I missed
Thank you! I wanted a Bigfoot stuffie, but didn’t have the brain space to design my own right now, so this was a prefect alternative. And I love that it came with the jack-a-lope, too!
Thank you! I almost didn’t get them in minky because I was worried about how challenging it might be to sew. But, I think because I used a ton of pins, and it was a smallish piece (compared to a quilt backing, for instance), it wasn’t bad. And, they are so soft!
These are fun. I keep the vacuum cleaner and a lint roller with me any time I cut minky or fur. It helps a bit but my ‘studio’ is one giant fuzzy mess.
I had a lint roller, but I couldn’t find the handle, so I just rolled one of the replacement rolls over everything. Guess I should keep a spare in my sewing bag!
