Billions of Bullions

or “I’m never going to do this again”

I started this a while ago after making the needle & wet felted bracelet foundation and finding some lovely hand-dyed lace weight merino yarn.

My eyes have been giving me trouble so I can only work so long before I’m no longer seeing well at all.

Out of curiousity, I started writing down the time I spent and based upon how much time it takes to cover one section (a bump and part of the connecting neck area) I figure I spent more than 30 hours covering this thing with bullion stitch. Thirty!!

Oh my goodness. That looks so intricate! Lovely colors. It looks like sooooo much work.

It was and very awkward at times. I’d have to really manipulate the bracelet (twist it, pinch it) to be able to use the needle in the inside narrow sections. I’m very glad that it is done and I can get on to something more interesting (and potentially fun).

Wow! I’m impressed you pushed through and finished it! That’s such an interesting way to use varigated yarn.

Wow! That is a labor of love for sure. It looks amazing but my fingers and eyeballs hurt just thinking about all those stitches. Absolutely a work of art.

It looks like every minute of 30 hours went into those bullions!

Thank you!! I questioned my sanity often while doing this piece.

This is a photo of the yarn lot that got me into this (appropriately named Salem’s Lot):

That is amazing! But yeah, I get way it is a one-of-a-kind thing. So now I know what to try with my felting stuff.

Ooo!! Thank you!!!

Foolishly, I have decided that I am going to use the same yarn on another needle/wet felted bracelet “blank”, but it will not be a time consuming stitch like the bullion!! I am sure it will take hours to do, but not thirty!

Oh my gosh!
