For the 4x6 swap I sat down with a blank piece of paper, some watercolor, and no plan whatsoever. I started with some loose limbs then added leaves and flowers and somehow this little bird showed up. The bottom looked a bit bare so I tossed in some foliage and started playing with shapes and lifts. In the end, I really love the piece and it’s a good reminder that I should sit down and just play sometimes, that I don’t always need a plan.

The bird looks so curious and uplifting. I love the variety of leaves at the bottom too. Very pretty.

Lovely work…and yes, sometimes the best work is unplanned!

If your little birdie needs a home, I volunteer mine! Seriously, though- this is just lovely.

Thank you! He lives with @curiousfae now because this painting was part of the 4x6 swap. But I could absolutely see doing a set of little bird paintings like this and sending them for happy mail! I could do a different color and kind of bird on each.
