Blue Batik Clothesline Necklace

I took Abbeeroad’s Clothesline Necklace class and paid for the optional kit. She picked out a lovely blue batik fabric for me and sent along a wooden bead. I had planned to use one of my beads from Magpie’s Scrappy Bead class, but @Magpie was right- it didn’t pop enough against the batik. So, I sanded off the poly coating and applied some copper acrylic paint. I love how the “copper” bead looks against the blue batik. I think my necklace is 22" long.

Very nice! That copper looks AMAZING against the blues in that batik!

Thank you!

I tried to paint the bead so it had a brushed metal look. It looks pretty good in person.

And, @Abbeeroad, I would have finished sooner if I had found my sandpaper. I ended up sanding the bead using an emery board, which actually worked pretty well! Thanks again for doing such a great job showing us how to make them and sending me such fabulous fabric!

Thanks! I had to run out to buy the paint… and found the bottle I had the day after I painted the bead
