Blue Quilt That is Finished According to My New Rulz

I really haven’t posted much here. I’ll catch up today while I am procrastinating on a bunch of other things.

Disclaimer, while this quilt is technically not a finished project, it meets my criteria. It is finished enough that someone who picks it up later will be able to understand what I was doing and finish it. By that I mean that the top is finished, the binding is cut and ready and the backing is pieced and ready to go. It is all done except the actual quilting and binding. I am stalled out on the quilting because I don’t want to pay the longarmer for things I can do myself and I currently don’t have a good spot to baste them so that I can do it myself. So I have taken it off of my UFO pile and put it on my finished pile.

My goal has been to move as many things as possible from the UFO pile to the all but finished pile so that I can make room for new projects. Of course, my little plushie thing (that I do to support my quilt habit) keeps me from doing as much as I would like.

That little roll of blocks at the top of the post is the most satisfying part of making a diagonal (or trip around the world ) quilt. Before the internet was really a thing, the Mr and I came up with our own little strip piecing plan that results in a big long string of blocks that I then count, pick apart and sew into the final top. Yes there is math. I’ll do a blog post sometime to explain it. Never the less, I love the little roll that turns into a quilt.

This is a large-ish lap almost twin size quilt. The fabric is all hobby lobby. (Yeah, I was there for something else and they were screaming at me from their little perch. I knew the pattern. It was only Friday. I could get it pieced before the Sunday Project Quilting deadline. I knew how much to buy. And it was screaming at me!)

I actually love it and I think once I get it quilted it will be MY quilt aqnd not up for family grabs or gifting.

I love how you put the colours together, they all flow together so beautifully.

I wouldn’t part with it either

the blues are so calming! I would definitely keep it for myself too

I love how the colors flow in your quilt. I don’t blame you for wanting to hold onto this one!

It is gorgeous!
I love blue. And I love how you make those block rolls and then divide them to design your diagonal quilt top.

It is fun. Here is the one I am working on now. It is about half done.
