My granddaughter Charlotte, aged 11, visited and I told her she could use anything in my scrap bins to make something. She doesn’t know how to sew but has had some basic instruction. She chose a blouse that someone had given me but that didn’t suit me so I had tossed it in the scrap bin. She found some chiffon for a hem trim/ruffle and fell in love with the satin for the waistband. All she had time to do during her visit was to cut the main blouse fabric from the lining and then even it up.
Today I finished sewing the skirt. I think she chose a great color combination. We decided to leave the chiffon unhemmed; we both liked the slightly raveled look of it. I sewed a bit of ribbon inside the back waist so she could tell front from back. And I used ribbon to encase the edge of the chiffon on the inside.
The original blouse had a curved hem and that was included as it was.
Here’s the outside.
