I’m tagging this “atc” even though that’s not quite accurate… Can we get a tag for “altered playing cards”? Or a suggestion for what else I should call this?
A friend and I have recently started playing a GM-less game called “Bonds Between.” We’re just being goofy and having fun with it as an excuse to make some casual art!
Basically, we’re tiny, house-cat-sized dragons living in the modern world, unnoticed by humans. We each have a deck of playing cards to represent our “hoard.” As the game goes on, we alter our cards to represent different items in our hoard and use them to cast spells to protect our domains (in our case, a city intersection and nearby shops).
My dragon, Goldilocks Olympian, is hoarding keys, and my friend’s dragon, Windyfoot the Fragrant, hoards teas and tea accessories. We’ll journal as the game goes on. I’m including my journal pages here just 'cause I think they’re sorta pretty (only because I didn’t have a notebook on me when I went for our session zero and took sloppy notes on other paper that I then transcribed into this pristine notebook), but the main craft is of course the altered playing cards.
First we were each supposed to put our own dragon’s name on both of our jokers, and then trade one with each other, so we each have a joker for each dragon.
That’s as far as I got during our session zero, but we’re supposed to have five altered cards (in addition to the jokers) before our session one, to represent the oldest pieces in our hoard, so I made two more at home, and eagerly await our first RP session (and the chance to alter more cards)!
