“Book” bag - Birthday present

I was recently gifted a large bin of scraps and I found this canvas bag that had already been started by my mom.

I got her permission (just incase she forgot about it) to rework it for a gift for a friend!

I don’t know what else to call it other than a little “book” bag!

My friend is an author and is currently working on her second book, so I thought a space to keep her papers, notes and anything else she needs handy, by her side.

Using my new found technique, I drew up a cartoony Arcanine from Pokémon, holding a book in the same shade blue my friends first book cover is!

I’ve also lined it with this cute fabric I also found in the bin!

If I have time, I also plan to include a handmade bookmark!

Other features: I used my sewing machine for the cute border, homemade button from HL, leftover yarn from last project to close the bag

I had lots of fun making this, I’m still very giddy about improving my skills!

The embroidery is cute and so personalized with the book color matching their book. I also love that this is a joint project with your mom (kind of). The bag is great, and I love watching your creativity grow! Such a wonderful, heartfelt gift.

Your skills are expanding! I just love sewing because you can customize so many things and no one else has the same thing and anyone who gets a gift from you knows it was made just for them!

The combination of embroidery and sewing is one of my favorites, and it seems it might be yours as well. :heart_eyes:
