Book It! Patch

I decided that my book-loving friend needed Book-themed birthday presents this year. I had found my Book It pin in some old things of mine, and it was perfect inspiration. I took a photo of it, then printed it on some printable fabric, fused it to heavy interfacing/stabilizer (the glue dots showed through unfortunately), and then hand embroidered the details. And the edging (won’t do that again! My poor fingers/hand!)

I think it turned out okay (and the interfacing dots are more or less visible depending on the light/angle)…

I think she’ll need a pizza hut gift card to go with it!

Best. Patch. Ever! It is so darn cool! Also, your satin stitches look fantastic. I always struggle a bit with satin stitch.

This is so resourceful! It looks really great and I think the little glue dots make it look a little like the background is embroidered, too.

Excellent! (& I still think the dots kind of capture the wonkiness of the shifting picture thing from the originals. )

That’s actually good to hear, because I wasn’t particularly happy with them/felt like the could be smoother. But I also used rayon thread for some shimmer, and it makes the light reflect off the fibers, and sort of picks out the individual fibers a bit more than matte thread.

This is amazing! I thought it was done in a machine so I’m super impressed that you did the embroidery by HAND! Wow!!

I love it so much! I used to earn so many pizzas when I was a kid.
