Book Pin-Cushion

I made this for the 2025 Winter Book Swap. I found the pattern charming, and since my partner does embroidery, I thought she could use it!
I searched my stash and found (what I think) is the perfect fabric for it.

I used the rest of this fabric on a purse many moons ago. I was so happy that the girl fit so perfectly.

I sewed little lines on the side part of the fabric to give it the look of pages.

and used the instructions on a fabric for a hideous cut-n-sew vest from way back in the 80’s for the text inside. I have no idea why I kept that fabric. LOL!

To keep the pins from going through, I laminated chipboard and slipped it between the “pages” and the back cover.

Since I bought the pattern, I figured I would make a few more for STS this year.

Absolutely gorgeous! You found the perfect fabric and it’s so harmonious and lovely. The book page stitch detail is that extra little something that makes it even better. I’ll definitely be looking forward to similar pin cushions in STS!

I forgot to mention that I also put rice in it for weight.

You’ve got several excellent fabric choices going on there!

How tall is it? My first thought would be that I’d end up sticking pins in the top & bottom so the cover will still close.

The ribbon keeps it closed. Its about 3 1/2 x 4" (2" thick). The cover seems to stay closed without the ribbon too. The bottom has a laminated piece of chipboard slid between the cover and “pages” so the pins won’t go through it and stab anyone.
