Bright & Graphic Card Set

I watched a tutorial for using paper strips to make backgrounds and decided to give it a try with black and white papers. I couldn’t just let them sit in a drawer, so I decided to see about making a set of cards. That lead me to digging through my dies to add some details and pulling a pad of printed cardstock and deciding to use only papers from that to make bases. FUN!

I haven’t (yet?) added sentiments to the insides, but I think this one might have something about “when life gives you lemons.”

I didn’t come up with a saying or word for the front of this one, at least not from my die stash. In my head I call this one “there are no words.”

I was stoked to finally get to make the light bulb and thought the warm glow of the yellow, metallic vellum was a fun option for that. Of course, the saying needed sparkly letters.

When I set out, I thought I’d be making simple, graphical dies cuts to add, but… well, I couldn’t help myself once I saw the tiny cocktail dies on this background. So I cut 'em and filled them. The cosmo has a sugar rim and the margarita has a salted rim (2 different white/clear glitters).

I’m not sure if I will keep these or find a way to pass along the set. As I type this, I’m considering making an envelope to fit the set into.

UPDATE: I did go ahead an make an envelope that the whole set will fit into using printed cardstock from the same pad as the bases in the cards.

These are so cheerful and fun and definitely striking! The lemons card is my fave!

The drink set looks so fun, and I bet it was a bit fiddly with all those tiny bits.

I like that the backgrounds are slanted and not completely straight. It adds interest to the cards.

Thanks, friends! I went ahead and made an envelope with my punch board using paper from the same pad. I can’t seem to upload pics from my phone just now, so I will add them to the OP a little later.

They are definitely a different color vibe than I usually go for!

I love this set of cards, it’s so fun to see them all together like this. There’s something vaguely reminiscent of 80s ska-ish / Lisa Frank / Mary E. about them that I especially love. Those tiny cocktails are the best!

Aw, thank you!

You could start a card business!

Haha! That’s nice of you to say. These things took at least an hour each and I’m not interested in working for minimum wage or below, so there will be no selling!
