Camp Nerd Games Badge Sash

I’ve been trying to come up with a way to display enamel pins (especially the amazing collection I’ve been building from the Nerd Games challenges) for a while.

I’m not big on sewing, so when I had the ole machine out for the first time in a long time to sew new curtains for some of our windows, I had the idea to keep it out and use some of the old curtains to make some sort of scout sash for pins.

(The curtains badly needed a swap; the sun and wind and salty air and recently the CATS have sure taken a toll.)

WELL, the old curtains were much more completely sun-damaged and beat up than I expected (they were just a single layer of cotton hanging in the tropical sun and salty air for more than a decade) and some started falling apart just from being hand washed.
I gave away pretty much all of my other random fabrics and yardage a few years ago because I really don’t like sewing and finally came to terms with it. Soooo I almost gave up on the idea, but then I found an old roll of fabric scraps I forgot I had! The only problem was these strips made my simple idea infinitely more daunting, but I caught a wild hair or something because I started on my vision right away.

(It was tricky sometimes, because I have a little well-meaning fuzzy head who loves to “help.”)

I eyeballed EVERYTHING, which I know is bad form. Sorry.
And I was able to use a few small salvage pieces of the old curtains for a lining after all!

Here is my badge sash!

I love it in this form, as I can wear it, or it can be hung on the wall with something like a hanger or towel bar!

Yeah! Nerds for the win! It’s so colorful and I love that it goes with our Summer Camp theme!

Thanks! I was also trying to make something that was like “finger painting” hahaha!

So cute! And a great display for your enamel pins!

Awesome! And clearly you need another badge for such an accomplishment…
