Candy Cane Lane Tree Skirt

I just finished this adorable tree skirt. I wish I was more visible under the tree, but what can you do.:woman_shrugging:t2:

Each panel is machine embroidered, I used felt for the details, which made it so easy. I added some scrap xmas Sailor Moon and Sailor Mars to the doorways of the buildings

The library book was supposed to have fabric pages but I used cut away stabilizer which I have a million scraps of and it feels very papery.

The red plaid was extras a friend had given me, which almost perfectly matches our stockings. But also makes a great memento of my friend who is moving to Japan next spring.

I love big tree skirts so I added a ruffle. I used an Internet hack where I turned a fork to make even pleats. It worked pretty good, especially since I wasn’t being ultra exact or perfect

I’m so in love with everything about this skirt, it turned out perfect.

It looks wonderful! I love the Sailor Moon additions! Those make it extra fun. There’s so much love, work, and detail in this tree skirt.

It’s absolutely stunning, I keep finding new details! It’s indeed almost a waste hiding it under the tree.

WOWZERS! I love this so much. I love that the Sailors Moon and Mars make a traditional design so custom to you. That you were able to use fabric given to you by a dear friend really adds to the specialness.

This year we have found ourselves with a 3D tree (that is also a formerly live plant) this year after a good couple of decades of either having our flat tree or no tree. I did a fairly thorough tree skirt search locally and then went online and was mostly left disappointed. I finally found one that piqued my interested, but it was over $950! ON SALE! Originally $1,699. I mean… WHAT? Anyway… I am now searching inspo for making one should we decide to keep up with 3D trees in the future. THANKS for adding to my inspiration!

This is adorable! What a fun idea to put Sailor Moon in the doorways.

I’ve seen that fork-pleating hack on YouTube & thought it looked intriguing. Do you think you will use it again in future projects?

I would do it again if I have a Project for it. It’s a really chunky ruffle and not for every project. but it was pretty easy and fairly accurate. I was going fast and not being overly careful and it still came out almost perfect, well maybe 80%
