To celebrate the end of the school year, I decided to make a cake. It is a chocolate cake coffee icing and salted caramel sauce. Super yummy, but the caramel in the middle made the top layer want to slide off, so I skewered it to keep it in place.
The excessive doming of the top, combined with the color and the sprinkles and the skewer made it look like a giant hamburger. My kids said googly eyes make everything better, so I added eyeball sprinkles. My husband walked through the door and said “It looks like Mayor McCheese or Officer BigMac from the McDonald’s commercials”. Having grown up in a household with no fast food and limited screen time, I had no idea who they were, but after a quick google I had to conclude he was correct. Not exactly my original intent, but hey, it made the family smile and it was delicious, so I’m not complaining.
