Last month was all about cherry blossoms, which is the best known kanzashi motif for the month of April. And, since I’ve been wanting to re-use parts of old pieces to create new items, I started out April with a piece that uses parts from an experimental shoulder-worn piece that I made years ago.
The leafs and flowers are new, but the butterfly is a salvaged piece from the older work.
I made another piece using the majority of the flowers from the experimental piece I deconstructed, and I still have some butterflies left over from it that need new homes - but I’m pretty happy with the progress I’ve made in going through my older findings and repurposing older pieces and parts.
