I got the Cheshire Cat fabric from someone on The Other Site, and had used bits, but still had plenty left. My friend’s fave colour combo is red and black. She has bad vertigo, so didn’t want a complex pattern. She really liked the hearts fabric, which I had used on one of my clothing bags, but I only had enough left for 6 squares, so I built the layout around using those 6 squares in logical places.
Life threw me some curveballs, so it took me a while; I started it in June, and finished it in early September, just in time for the bit at work where it is cold but they haven’t turned the heating on
I spray basted it in my garage, and then quilted it with a simple grid pattern with the walking foot, echoing either side of the pieces. I like how this made little checkerboards at each intersection.
I made the label in Procreate, then printed it on inkjet printable fabric. I had a lot of the sheet left, so I have printed some of my drawings, which I am hoping to use in future pouch sewing projects. (I hid our names behind my cat for the Internet)
What a lovely gift for your co(ld)worker! It looks so well constructed and the prints make it cheery, too.

This is one of my favorite color combos as well!
Simple and done. It is a comforting and pretty quilt for your co-worker. She will be touched by your hard work and for thinking of her in designing it (those little hearts are laid out perfectly!).
Thank you so much everyone. And @TheMistressT , “co(ld)worker made me laugh . We work in a very old building that has been badly retrofitted to add a modern office. The heating is slow to come on, and the AC is inefficient so it has been murky all summer. They also added a mezzanine floor above ours with no walls, only a balcony, so we have the noise from the 28 people in our room, plus the 8-10 people in that area above us.
