Christmas cookies in memory of my mom - Holiday Spectacular Entry 2025

20 years ago, when I moved out starting college my mom made me a recipe book with all her favorite Christmas cookie recipes. Each year I made a small batch of cookies with some friends but nothing very fancy. Baking was my mother’s passion and during Christmas time she supplied the whole family and close friends with plenty of cookies.

After she died of breast cancer 7 years ago, my dad, my brother and I started making our favorite cookies from her book. In combination we now mange to make almost the same variety she used to make every year.

Here’s what I made this year

In addition to that, my son, who’s currently living in Italy, sent a jar of homemade cantuccini.

Here are some pages from my mother’s book:

If anyone is interested in some of the recipes I’m happy to post translations.

They look yummy and your presentation is so lovely!

Our neighbor is originally from Germany and made us a bunch of cookies this year! My favorite was one that had some anise in it, which is a good flavor to have with tea or coffee!

I am sure your family loves this tradition that you are carrying on!

That plate looks filled with deliciousness and your mom’s book is such a wonderful gift that I’m sure will be treasured by future generations as well!

I’d love a translation of your absolute favorite recipe, when and if you have time. I love cooking and finding old family recipes is always a thrill.

What a beautiful way to celebrate your mother’s holiday tradition!
I love her recipe book!

I’d like a translation of the gingerbread boys and the stacked stars, if possible.
