I am going to join this swap! I have to get my card and small item made, but at least I can sign up for one partner, maybe more. Yay!

I just thought of the perfect small craft to share that is perfect for this swap! Need to start making them and hope to finish before the deadline. Only 2 weeks left…

I had the best idea for my smalls. If I make them similar I might even be able to join with items for 3 partners

I’m definitely going to sign up for this one. I came up with my idea…I just have to get moving on it!

I made progress and pulled out the art pieces I had put aside. I actually have several, (and tons of tea of course) but only one handmade card. Ada is sick, and doesn’t have camp this week and it’s all rainy, so maybe we’ll try making a mess with paper to create a few extra cards for my stash so I could do an extra partner or two…

My car is broken, and the friend that’s been driving me places will surely NOT take me to anyplace that sells crafting stuff cuz… I really have too much. So I have to find stuff in my stash and make do (the brilliant idea I had for a make probably won’t work because I don’t know where I stashed the items I need)

Dear Paper Crafters,
My hat is off to you all. While I can do paper crafting, I don’t really enjoy it. After spending 3 hours trying to do so with a 4 year old, I want to climb in the shower with a large glass of something gin-based, and not come out until someone brings me takeout. :takeout_box: G’ahhhhhh.

The annoying news is that Ada took every bit and bob I was trying to use on my cards, and glued them into a pile. So much for all the fun things I had been saving over the years. :broken_heart: The good news is I did manage finish 3 cards. And I’m not going to try making any more cards until Ada is in college. :joy:

All,
Just under two weeks left for sign-up! Remember to PM me your questionnaire when your card(s) and extra small item(s) are ready.

How’s everyone doing? I have stamps picked out for my cards and a rough plan and bits laying about for three different extra smalls because I’m overthinking as usual.

@MistressJennie - I’m glad you were able to finish your cards despite the chaos. Crafting with a preschooler on the loose should be its own Olympic sport.

@EclecticDreamer - I’m so sorry you’re having car troubles! I hope the forced stashed raid leads to some unexpected crafty magic though. Sometimes when I’m forced to pivot, that’s when I make the things I love the most.

For fun, here’s the card Ada made on Wednesday. She’s angry she can’t fold it in half, due to the clear acetate feather/flower she used. But she is very excited to give it to the little girl across the street.

She’s clearly inherited your crafty skills. That’s much more balanced than my kids were doing at twice her age. She can alwats tape a matching paper size along one edge to make a large card for her friend, rather than folding it in half.

That’s pretty! She did a great job. My son used to do some crafting with me, but now that he’s a teenager all he wants to do is play video games. Lost my crafting partner…

I have three cards finished! Now for my extra smalls. Also, there is no such thing as a “quick” card in this house. I try and yet some sort of time warp happens every time I get out my card making supplies.

I just started looking into envelopes I could use to send my cards and wondered if a letter containing two teabags might get too bulky to go through customs smoothly.

Technically it needs to be declared passing the into the US. Because it’s food. But then it might not get checked if it’s just a plain letter.

I know from the US to the EU works fine, because @Tapestry included teabags to swap letters before. But does anyone know if it can cause any trouble in the opposite direction?

I was going to make two cards today, so I grabbed my papercraft supplies. I’m not really a papercrafter but I like to experiment a little bit with it. I grabbed my stamps and my cutting dies to figure out what I’m going to make. Turns out one of my ink pads has leaked :frowning: and the stamp bin was covered in leaked ink. This is my issue with papercraft. I like the results but I don’t like working with ink or paint or glue or any of that yucky stuff that gets my hands dirty! After I cleaned it up I was done with papercraft for today, but I think I know what I’m going to make tomorrow. It requires a little stamping and a little glue but I should be able to manage that without getting covered in it.

@Silky_Bee - I’m almost certain I’ve receieved tea packets via regular post from outside the US. I’m having trouble remembering a specific example though. But that’s one reason why the “sealed” aspect is so important.

@Immaculata - I’m sorry you had to deal with the spilled ink, that sounds miserable. I’ve never had that issue with my ink stamp pads, but I’ll definitely keep an eye on them. I hope your next paper crafting session goes much smoother.

I think it might be user error … I kept them in a small plastic bin, in a larger fabric bin full of random craft supplies I don’t really use a ton, in a Kallax. I pull those fabric bins in and out of the Kallax whenever I’m looking for something so the stuff on the inside moves around. Who could have expected that cheap old ink pads would leak when stored on the side?

Not sure if I’ll use them… but I bought 3 pair of fancy paper scissors with fancy designs at a thrift store today. Thought they might be fun for the cards.
