Today I made a card! No pics just yet!
Love that you captured a thing of beauty in your own area…we sometimes take things for granted…it has a melancholy feel.
I agree. I’ve been saying I wanted to paint something based on our view forever and this morning I kept seeing one tree and I just had to draw it. I hauled my (second ) easel up to the windows in our bedroom and got to work. There’s still a lot left to do but I’m really proud of how it’s turning out. You can’t see from the picture but I’ve been working a lot the branches trying to create depth with overlaps and shading
Yay for making it happen!
Congratulations @Magpie!! That is quite the thing!! I wish you both many, many more tears of happiness together!
Today I finished stitching the word ‘create.’ I started it last week, but wasn’t sure I liked my fabric choice, so I didn’t finish it. Today I changed out the thread for a light pink, which I like better than the original holographic gold thread I’d been using, though the stitches came out a bit funky for sone reason.
After finishing the stitch out, I was still debating whether I wanted to keep this panel or stitch a new one with a different fabric . But, after much back and forth, I’ve decided that I will keep it.
The fabric at the bottom of the hoop will be the bottom of the bag. The background on both fabrics is a burgundy color.
Feb 29 - I started another doodled postcard.
paintings and granny squares, paintings and granny squares …
I want to say thank you so much for this thingadayalong! I didn’t post pictures every day, but I did make something every (nearly every?) day, and I feel like crafting along with all of you has been super productive and fun!!
This is one painting from this week, it’s for a fundraiser where we were given a specific canvas and asked to paint in autumn colours. it’s a bit washed out, it’s more red-golden irl.
Ooooo, I really like this painting! Do I see a Fibonacci thing going on there?
@Abbeeroad THANK YOU SO MUCH for hosting this craftalong! It was a fun, little challenge and so rewarding! It’s been a real delight to see what others have been getting up to over the month, too.
Oh, I know I say this a lot, but man, I LOVE THIS! Great colors and I love the scenes in each section. Beautiful!
And that’s a wrap, folks!! Thank you all for playing along, no matter how many or how few “things” you did. See you next year!
Thanks for hosting! It was so much fun seeing the things people might not normally post about. Here’s hoping we all keep some of the momentum going.
I love how varied each section is yet they all go together so well. And the little peaks of book pages popping through. There’s something mesmerizing about the swirliness of the trees, I keep staring at them. It’s hard to tell from the picture, how big is the canvas?
Mouth agape! It reminds me of the painting you made me years ago. This is gorgeous!!
It reminds me of that one, too!
Yes! I wasn’t super exact about it. I started with that structure, and just painted intuitively until it felt done .
Thanks friends I’ve made a few pictures like this over the years, I find it really enjoyable to just let them evolve - kind of a structured abstract I suppose.
It’s not very big @photojenn , maybe 9 x 12? The paintings are going to be shown at a local winery, displayed in a wall of wine crates set up as shelving I believe.
I’ll go give this its own topic…
Oooo, I love me a Fibonacci Sequence! I have had ideas for it floating around in my head for at least a decade and have yet to commit to any. You’re an inspiration!
Just a little heads up note that I plan to run this again this year. If anyone would like a chance to run it, however, just shoot me a PM! Or if you have ideas, etc. I’m just planning to rinse and repeat from last year.
Oooooo! I was just revisiting this thread a few days ago! I am going to take a week-long trip in Feb, but if I can figure out a take-along project, then I will join again this year!
