Growing up, my mom always made coffee Cake with apples in it for holidays and special occasions. Today is neither, but my kids requested coffee cake, so I decided to make her recipe. I used peaches instead of apples, because I had some from the farmers market that needed to be eaten rather immediately. I was worried the peaches would make it soggy. They didn’t, the texture was fine, but the peach flavor got lost and disappeared in the cake. Apples work better. Still tasted good though. I added oats to the crumble topping for extra crunch, and that worked out well.
