Coffee Theme Mini Journal

This mini journal is 6 1/2 x 3 1/2”. It has 8 pockets, 1 tablet, 2 envelopes and 2 doors. I used 3 throwaways for the base so it is a trash to treasure or green project.

It is also authentic coffee art. I used instant coffee crystals to design the coffee cup on the front and the raffia tie with the dangles that is used to tie the book together.

I made the coffee cup handle out of a piece of used cardstock, raffia and gold metallic paint pen.

I used some of my coffee paper that I designed with real coffee splotches. I brushed the 3 real coffee beans with copper metallic paint.

I also used a foam coffee beans stamp, heart die cut, brown craft paper, rhinestones strip and hand-lettering.

Inside the 1st flip-over/page are 2 pockets and a door on the left. The blue paper is my hand-painted design.

Inside this 1st door is a tablet journaling space that I made using a brown paint chip. I used one of my paper shapers scissors to trim pieces throughout the book. I also tore some pieces.

Inside the 2nd flip-over/page are 2 pockets, 1 envelope and the 2nd door, which is on the right.

I have hand-carved coffee stamps, images and text, that I used in this design. I used white and gold paint pens and black marker for accenting.

Inside the 2nd door is a small journaling space.

Inside the 3rd flip-over/page (which is the top 1/2 of the page and part of the back) are 2 pockets and 1 envelope.

Inside the 4th flip-over/page (which is the bottom 1/2 of the page and the 2nd part of the back) is 1 pocket. The little coffee cup is a drawing I did in silver metallic paint pen.

These are the tag inserts that I designed for some of the pockets and envelopes. The Let’s Drink Coffee is one of my hand-carved stamps.

These are the folded cards that I designed for the other pockets and envelopes.

I love mixed media altered art and I love coffee! Been drinking decaf for a few years now. A miracle that I could make the switch.

Thanks for taking a peek at this complex mini journal design.

Thank you! The mugs are my drawings and hand-carved stamps. All of the lettering is hand-done, except Let’s Drink Coffee and the vertical Coffee. Those are also hand-carved stamps.

Thanks so much, Tapestry and Bunny1kenobi! Authentic coffee art is a thing. That explains the instant coffee crystals, the coffee beans and the coffee splotches. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

:blush::hot_beverage::nose:t4:Thank you!

I really did enjoy the process. I love mixed media altered art. It’s often paralyzing to get started. I have an idea but it almost seems impossible to do it. The key is to force myself to get started, to just start picking out some elements to work with.

It’s fun once the flow starts. The ideas keep coming and the piece creates itself. You can go on indefinitely adding stuff but you can feel when it’s time to stop. It tells you.
