Crochet doll with wardrobe

I started out to make this doll and some clothes for my granddaughter’s birthday. For the doll itself, I pretty much followed the pattern. There was a lot of improvisation after that because I was determined to use yarn from my stash, which meant using different types and weights of yarn so adjustments had to be made. For example, I really wanted to use this yarn (see below) for the hair but it took four tries (including a foray into a different yarn entirely) to get it to work out.

The designer, Ashley Parker, came up with the adorable shoes–bunny slippers and sandals! (I just love those!) The dress is hers, too. I made the nightgown as a variation on the dress, and the halter top and skirt are my own design. And I added a mouth because Violet is quite chatty and I think she’d enjoy having long conversations with her new friend.

Tomorrow is my granddaughter’s birthday. I hope she likes her gift.

She liked it :tada:

She loves that she can change the doll’s clothes and immediately tried all the outfits.

Thanks, everyone, for your kind comments.
