I finished this today. (Started last fall and then set aside for other tasks.) it’s made mostly from scraps.
It’s fabulous and fits right in with the movement to make use what we have to create something new and useful! I love the scrappiness of it and the colors are good together!
Is the collar knit? Is this your own pattern?
Beautiful and so much fun!
Thanks!
Thanks! The body is mostly just a sc, ch1 moss stitch. Some of the yarn is kind of stiff so I wanted to build in some give. The rose-looking part is a puff stitch I think. I just made up the design as I went along
The turtleneck is a slip stitch rib.
I long to go back to my younger, braver days when I did most sewing, knitting and crocheting much more freely. Things were a bit wonky but I loved what I made because it was an experiment and made me figure things out.
I have been watching a lot of videos of a woman who makes the craziest things with no pattern. The stuff she makes speaks to my heart…crazy mixes of textures and colors and yet, still functional and nice clothing. This is the kind of crafting I miss instead of seeing a lot of patterns made over and over. sigh End of rant.
I’m the opposite. It’s gotten more difficult for me to keep track of where I am in a pattern, which is why I mostly improvise now. That way the result is a surprise instead of a disappointment ![]()
Those colors scream fall. Lovely vest!
I love how it looks chunky and rustic. The colors are great together. I wanna see it on you or a manaquin, though!
Love it! I totally saw a knit turtleneck, too, and that high neck is my favorite part! Aside from the wonderful scrappiness of course. ![]()
I forgot to turn the turtleneck down for the photo shoot ![]()
You’d never know this was scraps. Those colors look like they were meant for each other!
Awesome! I bet that’s super nice to wear! Really cute!
Thanks!
