Her tutorials are really great–detailed and easy to follow. She uses both UK & US terms, too. I think these could be lovely coasters. I’m even thinking that larger ones could be cute pockets! Wouldn’t it be fun to have sunflower pockets

It’s also possible that I did them incorrectly
I just figured out why the petals don’t lie flat–it’s because the yarn for the petals is thicker than the yarn for the centers. (The reason for that is that the lights in the store where I bought the yarn for the project change the way colors look, so I discovered when I got home that the brown yarn I had bought was actually purple 
. So I used some other brown yarn that I already had which is thinner.) Anyway, I’m glad to have made this discovery because now I can do it on purpose
