So, first of all, I was trying to recreate these green earrings that I bought on Etsy a while back. I don’t think I have ever crocheted with embroidery floss. It’s tough on my hands as I never regained ALL of my fine motor skills/ strength after my last spine surgery…
I don’t have the right hoops but I wanted to see how difficult it would be before I spent money on this. I had some narrow half round silver wire that will fit through my stretched piercings but definitely wouldn’t work for your standard ear piercing. Before I put my reading glasses on I actually thought it was round wire…
I am happy with how they turned out now, my tension is off but this was not easy on my hands and I had to take a few breaks. Before I make more I need to get the correct hoops. I was working on them in the bike shop and a customer said she’d buy them if I was making some to sell. So maybe I will. I like the idea of adding beads to them too…

Turned out lovely! The color is gorgeous.
I used to make these using crochet thread. Those hoops are tricky, but they are meant for regular pierced ears…you have to insert the wire in and tilt/twist them around the small hump. They actually stay on better for me than most other hoops.
I like your pattern better because it is lighter and airy. Looks like lace. I bet when people see them you can sell them.
OMG, I’ve never even heard of crochet thread. I actually thought it was fingering weight yarn or something. But I really liked the idea of using embroidery floss instead.

I checked the earrings I made…some were made with #10 crochet thread and some with Perle cotton embroidery thread. Seems like anything works well for these. Can’t wait to see what you come up with next!
I think your version looks a lot better than the original.
Using glitter embroidery floss would be amazing
… ok having an 8yo daughter might bias my opinion on glitter quit a bit
Pretty! You did a good job copying the design. I like it because the weave is open and airy. I like your design better because there’s more space in the middle. I’m sorry about your health challenges but glad that you can still enjoy crocheting.
