Crocheted Piggy Bank

I needed a prize for the football pool I run at work, so I made a piggy bank (the “safe bet” prize) out of a Pom Wonderful bottle. It’s a working bank!

I don’t have a ton of the pictures of the construction but I do have a few of the bottle cutting - you cut the top off and that becomes the bottom (that is accessible via the flap) and then you cut the coin slip in the back of the head - I started crocheting and then marked the spot I needed to cut on the bottle.

Not going to lie, crocheting around the bottle was very frustrating and I looked into a lot of ways to be able to crochet it flat and sew it on later, but I really liked the way this looked.

Note that you will have to stuff the top of the head (the concave bottom of the bottle) with a little bit of fiberfill.
