In my area, plastic bags have been discontinued and paper bags that cost .10 each have replaced them. I like how it encourages people to bring their reusable bags to the store. Sometimes I don’t have one with me if I have an impromptu trip at the store on the way back from work. This will solve this problem! It double as a decorative addition to your purse as well, since the bag portion is neatly tucked into the strawberry. The next one I make will be in red. The pink is nice, but red is my favorite color.
I have one someone gave me that folds & rolls up into a tiny bundle that lives in my purse for those unplanned stops at the store. It was a thank you gift for a play I designed costumes for, and the play was about ecological sustainability. It might be the most used random gift I ever received.
To help with getting the majority of my bags back into the car, we added a cute hook in our entryway, right next to the key rack. If I come in with something, and am too busy managing the toddler to bring the bags right back out to the car, they go on the hook. I can’t get my keys without seeing them, so I just grab them to and put them back while waiting for Ada to climb into her car seat.
Ooh, that’s a cute one! (I’ve been carrying an aquarium one that folds up into a fish dangle off my purse/whatever for about 15 years now, & it is so nice to have bag right there that you don’t even have to remember to take out of the car with you.)
Having the bags readily available near the exit/keys is a good idea! A fish one will be a good one too. I will see if I can find other patterns for different types.
Good idea (as someone who never brings enough bags into the store/underestimates the amount of groceries I’m about to get but also has decorative plushies on their purse/bag - this is like the perfect solution)!
This is so cute! And so practical. I’m excited to see the red one, too!
We have now managed to get enough reuseable bags that if we neglect to put a couple back, there are still several in the car. For the last several years, I’ve been pretty good about bringing them in with me to all stores, but I have been known to leave my cart to go back out and get my bags!
I recently realized that if I’ve not brought in enough bags, I am going to take the shopping cart to my car anyway, so I can can just put that stuff back into the cart and bag them when I get to the car! It’s only happened a couple of times, and it wasn’t pouring down rain which might change my mind.
Exactly. I always end up with bigger items separate in my cart. Also, I’ve had to accept that I have a bad arm/shoulder and should use the cart to get stuff to the car anyway, not try to carry it all and leave cart in the cart area in the store.
The strawberry isn’t so small. It’s as big as the palm of my hand. It needs to be larger since the bag has to me stuffed into it when folded. I’ll take a pic of the next one in my hand so you can see the size in reference to my hand.
