Custom Pottery Apron

I have a potter friend who asked if I could make her a pottery apron. She comes in the large version of human beings, tall, big-boned, and solid. Most aprons cut into her neck, and just don’t cover well.

We started with a crossover apron pattern, and when testing the prototype, decided that it was too complex to put on. I’ve gotten stuck in my crossover apron too!

So I modified. And then just to complicate things even more, I made the straps adjustable.

We purchased the fabric, a soft cotton canvas, and a pattern, but the rest came from my stash. An old webbing belt and plastic buckles from old bags.

She is delighted.

I love the little touch of color with the stripes on the back. It looks great and I hope it inspires her to create!

I bet this is a dream come true for your friend! Aprons are surprisingly difficult to get just right for an individual and so wonderful when they are just right. The colorful strips on the straps feels like a high-end detail.

I thought I was the only one that got stuck in crossover aprons! The adjustable straps are such a nice touch
