D&D Mug Rug & Coffee Cozy

I started this little set for my husband’s last birthday, in March 2024. But daughter’s birthday preparations came up, and it got put aside. I tried to get back to it for our Anniversary last May, and again things came up. Same with Christmas, and Jim’s birthday this year. So, I finally buckled down and finished it in time for our Anniversary later this month. I’m honestly just glad I still had a bit of the grey thread left. I had almost been out way back then, and I finished off so many partial spools on small projects in the mean time. I had just enough to finish these, with literally inches to spare.

The fabric is a dungeon map print from Spoonflower. I quilted it by following all the walls of the dungeon in dark grey thread. I love how it looks all quilted, but it took freakin’ forever to trace each and every wall. Sew 6 or 8 stitches, stop, adjust manually to get the last stitch perfect, then pivot into a new direction for 2 stitches, and turn again. It was so slow to be that precise. But it does give the maps a sense of dimension and texture.

The French press cozy closes with 2 charcoal grey buttons and loops of 1/4" elastic. Our 18th Anniversary is May 20th, but yesterday morning as I watched Jim sitting at the kitchen table with Ada and his French press, I decided to give it to him “early” (if you don’t count over a year later). He took pictures of it, so I’m assuming he’s been sharing it on the D&D forum he’s a Moderator on. :joy:

That quilting is perfection! Getting the stitches to stop in exactly the right spot with all those edges. Wow. I am sure everyone was jealous and impressed.
