I have some bigger DIY home projects on the list this year, so I will have less time for other types of craft projects. But I need those other types of craft projects! So, I am giving myself the opportunity to just play when I get some minutes here and there. Instead of making a topic for each one or not making topics at all (GASP!), I will put them all here.
A. My first one is this little mailbox tag-y thing. I love postal themed things and picked up this mailbox die set that was supposed to be sized to fit a gift card or a tea bag. It does not.
I am not naturally inclined to make for making’s sake, so this feels like both a personal creative challenge and a gift for myself.
B. Another quickie fit in between bigger projects. I used 2 pretty new die sets to make little pillow box. I’ll use it for a gift card for my mom’s birthday in a couple weeks.

I recently saw something like this on Pinterest - a layered flag/pennant/tag-type fold-over thing used to decorate (and close) a gift bag. We’re staying with family for a few days and bringing a hostess gift, which of course I wanted to “wrap a little.”
I experimented a bit by folding my paper in half before cutting with the die. To keep it from cutting into 2 pieces, I set the fold inside the edge of the die before running it through the die cutter. The space between the handles on the bag was narrower than the flag die, so I used a round corner punch to nip-in the folded side. The inspiration used a small wooden clothespin to close them, but darn if I could find mine stash of those! I did find my stash of curly paper clips, though. THe copper finish ties in with the metallic copper stars on the smaller piece. Ribbon from the gift-wrapping stash.
I have several solid-color gift bags left from a multi-pack purchased years ago and I think I will try to make some of these types of things for those soon-ish. Hopefully, I’ll be more likely to use those if they’re a little fancier. The paper clip barely holds this together with the thickness of the velvet ribbon, so I hope to find my mini-clothes pins. I also have some pre-decorated clothespins in my stash, so maybe I’ll find papers to coordinate with those.
