I have a cross stitch pattern that calls for pink flowers. My friend does not like the color pink. I’d like to change the colors to violet. I was hoping there was a color wheel situation for DMC floss. If my pattern calls for DMC 957, what would that approximately be in a violet? I hope this post makes sense.
I don’t know of one but I’ve used something like this site before to convert rgb/hex codes to doc floss colors. If you have a program that has a color wheel you can access rgb codes on, you could try plugging them into a site like this and see what it suggests - http://threadcolors.com/.
Another idea is to take the thread color, look up its rgb code on that site, then lower the red value (or increase the blue value) to make it more violet.
So using your 957 as an example, first I searched for it and got the rgb code
Then I typed in the rgb code and cut the red value by about half. Then you can look at the colors it suggests and pick one you think looks best.
There are also lots of charts showing the full range of colors but I find a tool like this is great for a more focused view.
That’s great! I didn’t think about converting to rgb. I’m so glad, she’s going to be very happy with it, I believe.
