Dragon Cake

You can’t have a dragon birthday without a dragon Cake, so I made this one . It is a red velvet cake with vegan cream cheese frosting. I started with a Bundt cake and a mini loaf pan cake (for the head). Then I piped on all the buttercream and added cut up chocolates we had in the cupboard from Christmas as the horns and spikes. The eyes were some Wilton icing we had, that was uncooperative and way runnier than I wanted it to be. The egg in the middle is solid chocolate. I found a forgotten silicone mold in the cupboard that we’d never used, and only burned the chocolate once when melting it (it made a surprising amount of smoke for such a little burnt bit). Oh well, dragons breathe fire so I guess I should have expected a little smoke. I rubbed gold luster dust into the edd to color it. My son is thrilled with it, so I am happy.

How fun! I love the scaly effect of the icing and the egg!
