Drawing: Self Portrait

I drew this self portrait using a black fine liner marker and a grey alcohol marker.
Then I scanned it and made some adjustments in Photoshop (toning down the grey and making some little corrections to the black shading areas).
I use it prominently on my new blog and business cards, which is quite a change, considering I never wanted my face to appear online. But this is an artistic interpretation of my face and somehow I’m fine with that.

(Edited to remove a photo of me, that was here for comparison.)

This is an amazing likeness, and I love the look you got by using the gray as well as the black.

Great job! Doing a portrait is hard enough! A self portrait would be darn near impossible for me.

Thanks for the compliments, everyone!

I don’t think I’d be able to pull it off a second time either.
It feels like it was a lucky shot.
In fact, after this one I tried five more times and failed every single time.
Turns out my first attempt was the best and salvageable in Photoshop.

@LadybugsAndBees, thanks, you must be clairvoyant.

My own son didn’t realize I had drawn it. He thought it was an altered photo.
I guess that counts as a real compliment.

I thought it was an altered photo too! Or perhaps a digitale drawing.
It looks really great!
I think it’s nice to see the face of the artist you buy something from.
