Dye batch 1-using the snow for good

When winter won’t seem to release it’s grip on your throat, using my powers of central heating, I showed the snow who is the real boss.

While my snow dying yarn may have been an utter fail. These 4 pieces of cotton turned out so spectacularly good I giggle when. I look at them.

And since I’ve been having a, time, the last year or so I decided I’d try to add a couple extra layers to this. So it was freeze dried, under the Snow Moon, on the night of Imbolc. The quilt made from this should have healing protection superpowers. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

The starting block

The dye lump

Sneaky peeky

Under the full moon

Piece one- light grey background, very loose pleats

Piece two- Sandy beige background (did turn out kinda muddy) scrunched up loosely

Piece three- snow background (off white) scrunched up loosely

Piece four- snow background, loosely pleated

All procion dyes from Dharma Trading. Colours include silver lining, charcoal, cerulean blue, sapphire blue, deep space and a sprinkle of black on the first layer of snow. That’s where some of the yellows and reds come from. Cracked black. I :heart:it.

And as I was ironing these. I thought maybe I should do a batch in yellows and greens. :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Excellent use of snow. I am looking at the hump of snow on the bench in the garden and thinking…hmmmmmm.

The fabrics turned out beautiful and dreamy!

That turned out so cool! I admit that I am jealous of your snow. We have zero on the ground. In Montana. In February. (also January and all but a couple days in December).
