Eight Paper Coffin Wands

I was inspired by this project to make coffin “wands” just for funsies. This type of decoration is not my usual Halloween style (which is more to the creepy and “upsetting”), but I just love 'em.

I worked on various components over a couple month, fitting in time here and there during breaks in my bigger DIY home improvement projects. That is how I came up with 8 coffins and therefore 8 wands. I love them displayed using vintage floral frogs, but they don’t photograph super well that way, so here are pics of each and every one. :grimacing:

The coffin boxes are Sizzix/Tim Holtz dies. This one was cut from paper embossed with a folder and sanded back.

These one says “home” across the top.

This shows the box from the side. All these have the boxes glued shut.

The straws were made by rolling 1.5"-wide strips of paper around some poly-tubing I had around using scrapbook-weight paper from stash The fringes are cut from vintage crepe paper** streamers, also stash.

** Pronounced as Nandor from What We Do In The Shadows show: “creepy paper”!

These are sooooo cool. I love the skull embossed one best. So creepy and perfect.

Fantastic!!! The Necronomicon - type one is my favorite!

These are awesome! The embossed one is super spooky!

(And Nandor’s voice is forever in my head when I see “crepe paper” written anywhere :joy: )

Thanks, friends! I’m definitely thinking of more embossing folders I might use for these coffin lids or other parts of that folder.
