The center burnt wood section is a portion of a rolling pin like the one pictured below.
I had purchased it to see if it could be used in wet felting. I don’t recall ever getting the chance to try it out. It got charred in the fire, but not completely destroyed. I believe I have a few more broken pieces among the stuff I “saved”.
