Embroidered Pocket

This was my first attempt at satin stitch, and second time embroidering. I learned a lot and feel really good about my progress in skill from the first leaf I did to the third.

I didn’t have quite the right green on hand, so I used one strand each of two different ones and I really like how the two colours together add dimension.

The fabric is possibly a good quality cotton, or possibly a cotton linen blend; I picked it up at a second hand shop so don’t know for certain.

I finished it with bias binding, which I love the versatility of, but don’t like sewing square corners with

It’s called a pocket, but I tagged it as a bag because it’s kinda that too?

I have worn it once so far, and it works really well! Although I have discovered that bulky rings make getting my hand in a bit trickier

This looks pretty! I like the leaf embroidery. :purple_heart:

Can you share a picture of what the inside looks like? Also is this worn on a belt loop?

This is really nice! The green looks so good against that fabric.

Wearing my Moderator Hat: Since these style of pockets are historical fashion, you could consider it part of costumes and cosplay, but I think bags and wallets also works!

Thanks

I have seen people wear them on a belt loop before, but generally they’re tied around the waist under a skirt and accessible through a slit in the side of the skirt, which is what I’ve made mine for.

Here is a photo of it inside out and one with me attempting to get a shot of the inside through the opening.

Thanks! And thanks for the tip. I hadn’t noticed that category yet, and will be sure to keep it in mind for the future
