I maybe need to take a small step back before my hands and fingers turn into semi-functional claws, but I’ve ended up a little bit addicted to making embroidery floss friendship bracelts at the moment. 
I recently had taken out my ebroidery thread for my mended jeans, but then decided I’d try to remember the simple friendship bracelet patterns I used to make back in middle school.
I started with finding the simple diagonal stripes somewhere in my brain..
then I was struggling with an arrow/chevron shape I remembered, because I was having real issues with tying knots in the other direction, so I first tried the third pattern I remembered, which is this zig zag one made by switching the direction of the diagonal pattern every cycle through the colors. (I know I had at least one or two more like this but I have no idea where I put them)
By then, I had enough practice with the reversed knots to return to the chevron pattern. (I accidentally flipped this one over and continued on the back side at somw plint, but we’re not gonna talk about that…)
THEN I remembered the internet exists and I decided to look it up to see if I was remembering things accurately, and BAM! HOLY COW there is a whole world of friendship bracelets out there!
I found a little list-icle/blog that had a few links and I tried some very simple patterns and braids with a small amount of threads…
and noticed a lot of the links were just leading to BraceletBook.com , and from there, my mind exploded!
There’s a LOT of info and patterns over there, so I’ve been trying to limit myself and take it in slowly. (I also have a thing where I want to know/memorize patterns so I don’t have to be reading and following written patterns all the time.) I’ve been trying to practice a few of the simpler patterns, like this cute zig zag (I was having trouble with the sparkly lavender thread wanting to stiffen and disappear in some spots 
)
And I played around with this one a bit; I ended up changing a few things because the way it was written seemed a little off (either a mistake in the pattern, or just that I was envisioning something else).
And I tried slightly more complex patterns like this (which I still need to practice and play with a bit more).
As far as not having to pay too much attention, I think this one is my current favorite. I like that I can play around with colors and gradients, and it can basically be as wide or as narrow as needed, and the pattern remains essentially the same.
