Fairy Toadstool Coaster

One of our local art shops has a little gallery space. They decided to host a community art show in July, with the only requirement being that all art has to fit on a coaster (that they provide). I decided to make a fairy toadstool, because I like them. I like the way it turned out, mushrooms are fun to make, but getting the paper to stick to the wooden coaster was harder than I anticipated.

Cute little fairy toadstool! How big was the coaster? Sounds almost like an ATC challenge. Can you tell me more about the materials you used? It looks like handmade paper in some places.

The coaster was about 4” square. I used a combination of tissue paper, wrapping paper, and handmade papers. I like using the textures of different papers and layers in my art pieces ( I make animal collages using similar mediums). I’ve used some fabrics in the past too, but they are near impossible to adhere properly.
