Ok! I know overly posting can be annoying, but it keeps me focused, heh, and boy howdy do I need the magical hocus focus,
Anyway, whilst preparing to cut them out, it suddenly struck me…WHY ON EARTH DO IT THE DIFFICULT WAY, O_o. Just multiply the length by the number of potholders times two, and cut out one long length, then fold and press and cut. O_o.
Also, I remember that I was changing from 3/4 seam edges in favor of 1/2 inch, except where I’d want to have extra fabric to hide frayed ends. So I aimed these for 1/2 inch seams. These potholders will be roughly 6+1/2 x 7+1/2 inches. (Also, I realize I don’t have any potholders, and now I’ve started baking, eh, they’re kind of really needed right now, ).
Well, except for cutting out the padding. That wasn’t going to work, as it deforms way too readily, .
This morning while getting things ready, and hunting for a good fabric to make the hanging loops out of, I realize there is one aspect that’s going to make sewing kind of annoying. No washer and dryer on hand for preshrinking the fabric. , and laundromats aren’t as cheap as I remember,
Luckily, potholders don’t matter, but once I start on clothing, O_o.

Luckily, most fabrics now have little to no shrinkage. I rarely preshrink anything anymore…maybe linen or 100% non-quilting cotton. A lot of clothing fabric has polyblends. You can still preshrink the old fashioned way…hot water in a sink or tub and hang to dry over the shower curtain rod or door?
Oh, that was awful, heh! Really hope the long pause didn’t ruin my ability to sew. Like what happened with knitting many many many years ago, . That took a few years to break free from,
Ok! A little better. Maybe I just didn’t adjust the tension well enough, as well as having not done it in months. (Also, I bought binding tape instead of making my own, which it should have been wider than what I bought).

If they are functional, then you can practice on more or other projects. Like any skill, you have to keep practicing. You’ll get it back! I am just glad you are sewing again! It is good for your mind and spirit. Yay! to a finished project in your new home and in your new life!
On a side note, thought I’d try my hand at making a pair of shorts tomorrow…Then while looking the pattern over, “Oh, right. I grew four beltloops in size when I got the pattern”. O_o, I’ve gone down five belt loops since then. O_o.
Hmm! Welp, I see a usage for a lot of left over/free fabric. I can try to learn to make my own pants/shorts, heh.
I’m sure I have enough of this to make a shirt and short set, heh.
